Video Doodling and Free Accounts

So, I've been playing with this new technology a little bit and I have also attempted to get a free account with VoiceThread.  I was able to become a registered user easily which allows access to see examples of this technology as well as some tutorials.  Thus far I've run into a snag to get a free account as an educator.  The window for application will not function giving me the notice that I must be signed in... which I was... so, I'll wait a day to see if my new registration must pass through some digital hoops before allowing full access.

I have been experimenting with a feature called video doodling which allows the user to make marks on the video as you provide commentary.  My video doodling should be the last entry on the embedded sample.   This is fun and applicable for online instruction.  Check out the example below.  My 'doodle' should be the last comment on the page.

VoiceThread

VoiceThread is an interactive sharing device allowing users to share ideas.  Please follow the following link to a great explanation of this technological tool:  VoiceThread « Tech Learning

Better yet, try using it to learn it: VoiceThread on my blog, Tech Learning
This link will provide a multimedia demonstration using VoiceThread.

This is a very new idea to me, but already my mind is swimming about what we can do with it as educators.  Pay close attention to the first link.  In the first paragraph of the blog, Dr. Yuen provides a link to sign up for free educator accounts to VoiceThread.  Check it out and let me know what you think.  Thanks and more later - Jon

Blog Beginning

Hello!  My name is Jon Peterson.  I am creating this blog as part of an assignment for SU's graduate course IDE 611:  Technologies in the Classroom.

I am an elementary school teacher with some, well, a lot of experience in the classroom, but not as much experience in this area.  Blogging is new for me and this is my first post.  Probably my first post of many!  Tune in shortly for the first topic:  Voicethread, Jing and other Online Presentation Sharing Applications.  So, maybe, I will also refine the title:)
